Literary Text : Novel "The Sense of an Ending"

Julian Barnes was born in Leicester in 1946.His recent publication.The Sense of an Ending won the Man Booker Prize in 2011. He won many awards. In this novel near to perfect novella whose title borrowed from Frank Kermode’sk 1967 classics of Literary criticism.

This book plots like that a thriller paper back,full of vengeful youth suicide and illicit sex.

The novel divided into two parts entitled one and two,both of which are narrated by Tony webster when he retire and living alone.


) What is the meaning of phrase ‘Blood Money’ in Veronica’s reply email?

The phase of blodd mony which means someone who silled money is given to Anthony. Sara ford give to her all money because of Tony help them sarah ford.Sarah end of the life she gave is all money to Tony .because of Tony suggest to his friend Adrian that met to sarah ford.

At the last Adrian relation with sarah they both are happy moment.adrian diary with sarah ,because of the relation of of all many other people.

Adrian write the dairy for Tony webster.In this dairy Adrian give to Sara ford because of he love affair with Veronica,further it is also say that to last day he was happy.He gave his dairy for Tony because he wrote letter for Adrine.In this letter so many mistake.Dairy is some evidences of letter also.

) Was the mentally retarded middle aged ‘Adrian’, Tony’s friend who did not commit suicide and was suffering from trauma and thus gone mad, and was living with hidden identity?

Adrian psychological truma in this case Adrian truma is not true because of Adrian is allready dead.In the last few days Adrian is so happy moment but also he suffer  mentaly(trumas) because of he felt guilt conciousness.And Adrian also remember his school days and his friend Robson who was commited suicide because of he made his girlfriend pregnant.Adrian realize and feel guilt conscious in your mind.Adrian case he also made his girlfriend pregnant because of Adrine commited suicide.

)  What do you mean by Unreliable Narrator? Is Tony Webster classifiable as Unreliable Narrator?

Tony is like  old man and he also recalls his past days.his interest from “Corroboration” ,Here Tony uses fram narrative structure.and construct narrative story.and tony also try to look at new experince and thought ,new ideas.so we can say that tony remember all those experience in past days memory. And also connect with new way ,so Tony is unreliable narrator.

We find that two ways of narrative fram ,Diachronic and Synchronic way of narrative style. When we look at Plot based on story telling in diacronic way “what is happened”

In this novel veronica accuses to tony “You just  don’t get it” and You never did and nevre will.

) How was Veronica related to Adrian, the one suffering in care-in-the-community?
    Adrian has relationship with sara ford.both having afairs .Sara ford give to birth to child.normally we can say that relationship with Adrian and Veronica is brother and sister.here we find that her own brother who is own lovers,lover son is his own mother.because of veronica take care of Adrian.it is care in community.
