“Our Casuarina Tree” it is autobiographical poem. it written by Toru Dutt. Toru Dutt immortalize the past life of her. as poet celebrates the majesty of the casuarina tree, she remember her childhood days spent under with her beloved siblings. While living abroad, she also realise her native land and relive memory of childhood. she also imagine or feel that tree is solo bond between her past and present. she also recalls tastes of flavor of her childhood. It brings memories of childhood friends play with her under this casuarina tree.

This poem begins with description of tree. this tree has wound itself round the trunk of like huge Python. also deep mark of imagination. tree as metaphor of giant ,strength and boldness. The creeper bears flower appear as tree is wearing a colorful scarf.

Toru Dutt says that she is like casuarina tree because of majestic looking. She also recalls the past happy moment and according to Dutt , nature shares feeling with humans. The poet also look wishes to consecrate the tree memory and importance for sake of those who are dead. love for casuarina tree will protect it from the curse of being forgotten.
