Da Vinci code novel
“Da
Vinci code” is very interesting and thriller novel written by Dan Brown. It is
also conspiracy fiction and detective novel. In this novel Brown presented woman as more intelligent. While
viewing movie I find that some changes in the beginning novel and movie. Movie
starts with murder of Jacques Sauniere and the novel starts with Louver Museum.
( 1)What difference do you see in the portrayal of
'Ophelia' (Kate Winslet) in Kenneth Branagh's Hamlet, 'Elizabeth' (Helena
Bonham Carter) in Kenneth Branagh's Mary Shelley's Frankenstein or 'Hester
Prynne' (Demi Moore) in Roland Joffé's The Scarlet Letter' or David Yates's
'Harmione Granger' (Emma Watson) in last four Harry Potter films - and 'Sophie
Neuve' (Audrey Tautau) in Ron Howard's The Da Vinci Code? How would justify
your answer?
Character of Sophie Neveu and Ophelia both we
see vast difference. In the Case of Ophelia character present as inferior or depended
on man character. sometime we see that women use as object of society or
margin(subaltern) of society. Society always look at woman follow all rules
and regulation of man figure.
Kenneth
Brangh’s Hamlet’ Ophelia portrayal of more cruel way .In this movie
Ophelia some scene ‘Madness of
Ophelia’. But Shakespeare Hamlet there is no description of Ophelia.
‘The
Scarlet letter’ Hester Prynne struggle a lot with puritan society. Hester is out
casting from the society because of Hester give the birth o
Sophie
character strong rather than Hester and Ophelia. Sophie is more talented and
intelligent all of them. she solved many
puzzle with the help of knowledge and she is good cryptologist.
the
body of women more objectified. Hermione and Sophie’s physical appearance is
more controlled in film. No doubt that the movie’s theme “Feminine Sacredness”
is played a vital role in portraying the female character like Sophie. But what
camera played is also important thing.
2) Knowability of Da vinci Code
Here
this novel Da vinci code apply the concept of Knowability
“I
don’t know ,what I don’t know’’ so many characters in the novel.
we came to
know how ‘knowledge’ is important for them so knowledge plays a very vital role
in the book, we can say that knowledge and knowability both are main pillar of the
text. Let’s look what is the meaning of knowledge, knowability and how
it is apply for all the characters like; Sophie Neveu, Robert Langdon, Leigh
Teabing, Silas etc.
The Da Vinci
Code if we can compare Sophie’s character with it than we came to know that
Sophie doesn’t know her real identity or she don’t know that she was bloodline
of Jesus Christ and Holy Grail .and that’s why quest for knowing and
quest for identity emerge.
Identify Knowable
Secret of
sophie and Leigh Teabing has revile Sophie truth.but still can not perceive
truth .Robert Langdan Myths and Teabing as secret keeper.Sophie herself not
belive in blood line she is
also become part of things.
How to know
is very difficult revelation. Intutive
Knowledge/Understanding more important
to knowing the things in rationality and intuitive knowledge.
what is
knowable?
this is an ontological
question, it refers to the aspect of social reality to deals with assumptions
we are willing to make about the nature of reality.
3) In Genesis (The Bible)
,Paradise Lost (
John Milton) Da Vinci Code Dan Brown it all three books presented Religion as centre narrative.
John Milton) Da Vinci Code Dan Brown it all three books presented Religion as centre narrative.
Genesis (The Bible)
In book The Bible ,God is
at the center. People were not aware about the text because The Bible is only
allowed to priest. It is not reach to human being. So, people were not
suspension about The Bible. So, there was no space for questioning or doubting. The Da Vinci Code” is not faithful to
Christianity. He shows a woman character more powerful than the male character.
Both narrations of Milton and Dan Brown are controversial.
Discussion of narrative of all three book.narration is based on individual perspective.when we discuss about religion, religious always blind follower and faith of people.
These all texts are written by different writers so there must be different points of view. There is different ways of looking towards the religion or history. The individual narration is always connected with his or her own feelings, emotions, heritage, and different point of views.
Atheist reading of Sir Leigh Teabing
becomes hero and Robert Langdon becomes
antagonist. He wants to reveal truth or secret of Holy Grail. He wants to make
free people from the burden of so called religious.Through the novel and movie
we found that Robert Langdon is shown as anti religious and anti god but at the
end of the novel we found that he bow down to god and Christianity,he become
part of “Priory of Sion” and savior of Holy Grail.Leigh Teabing tries to reveal
secret he wants to make people happy and free.when we look at history we found that many people died and killed
because the name of religion.
Leigh Teabing tries to save humanity
from religious. He say that “Let them Live with Life, make them free”.Leigh
Teabing life become pilgrimage ,because of he is search of Holy Grail with
better purpose than other.
Thanking you
